Scriptwriters Get Behind the Scenes at Nuffield Theatre, Southampton

Nuffield Theatre Stage DoorConnector Café is a must for scriptwriters. As Robin Mukherjee pointed out when he visited HWS in January; writers getting together in one place creates an air of safe insanity.

The Connector Café is a place where like-minded writers meet up once or twice a month on a Thursday in ‘The Kitchen.’ Don’t worry, you won’t be asked to peel potatoes or simmer soup. The Kitchen (kitchens are so often the hub of a building) is the name of the theatre’s café.

The Café connectors discuss their experiences of the world of the theatre with the café often taking the form of a workshop behind the scenes looking at such production necessities as scenery. Seeing it in action will make stage directions feel more natural.

No matter how much of a modernist you are getting behind the scenes with the specific reason of finding out more about the theatre will help you realise the bones of a productions structure.

Spaces are limited, so get your stakes on. Check out the website at www.nuffieldtheatre.co.uk where you can book on-line.
